UK Power Networks - Temporary Road Closure - Seaview Road, Greatstone - 5th August 2025 (Folkestone and Hythe District) Due to works planned to be undertaken by UK Power Networks, it will be necessary to close part of Seaview Road, Greatstone, from 5th August 2025 with estimated completion by 5th August 2025. Seaview Road, Greatstone, will be closed outside number 32, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. There is no alternative route. Urgent Speed Limit Reduction - Rhee Wall, Brenzett - 10th June 2025 (Folkestone & Hythe) Kent County Council gives notice that for the safety of the public and workforce during roadworks, a temporary mandatory speed limit of 30 MPH will be imposed on a section of Rhee Wall, Brenzett. The 30 MPH applies in both directions on Rhee Wall, Brenzett between at the junctions of Brenzett Roundabout and Rhee Wall Farm, to the extent indicated by signage clearly displayed on site. This takes effect on 10th June 2025 for up to 1 day. The restrictions will be lifted as soon as works are completed and it is safe to do so. The restrictions have been introduced for the safety of the public and workforce whilst carriageway repairs are to be carried out by Kent County Council. Sittingbourne resident targeted by scam Council phone call. An elderly resident from Sittingbourne received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Council about doing work on their drains. What happens: • You receive a phone call from someone saying they are from the Council • They tell you they need to do some work on your drains • This work will cost you £20,000 and you will need to send a cheque. • They start the work that day. What to do: • This is a SCAM - Do not allow them on your property. • If you think there is a problem with your drains, contact Southern Water on 0330 303 0368. • Southern Water would never demand money for repairing drains they are responsible for. • Find out who is responsible for repairing drains and sewers on Citizens Advice • Report scam calls to Citizens Advice on 0808 223 1133 Please warn family members, friends and neighbours. Telephone Scam Alert Kent resident targeted by telephone scam threatening to cut off the phone line Residents in Kent have received phone calls saying they owe money for their telephone line and if they don't pay they will switch their line off. What happens: • You get a phone call saying you owe money for your telephone line • The caller says they will switch your line off • He tells you to hang up, then try and make a call • You try to make a call but there is no dialling tone – the line appears to be dead • The scammer calls back demanding the payment What to do: • This is a SCAM - Do not give any bank details • The scammer makes your line appear dead by staying on the line but muting the sound - you cannot make calls • To report and for advice visit Citizens Advice consumer helpline or call 0808 223 1133 Please warn family members, friends and neighbours.
