POLICE REPORTS

Published: 25 Oct 21

WALLEND AND DENGEMARSH: Police report for September 2021. There were two reports of nuisance youths and four reports of poaching. However, this area accounts for the bulk of reports of migrants landing, mainly at Dungeness, but also Lydd-on-Sea area, Dengemarsh beach and Galloways beach. As you will know from all the press reports, this year has been very busy on the coast with migrants coming in by dinghy. I would expect that as windier winter months come the incidents will slow, however calm sea days are likely to see an influx of boats taking advantage of weather breaks. Lydd Town has had a good year, with very few reported incidents of ASB, of course there has been some, but lower than other years. Again, except for the two tragic road traffic accidents that attracted a lot of press earlier in the year, accidents have been quite low compared to previous years. This is only a brief overview of the areas, it does not really reflect the full range of calls that Police attend. But it will give you some idea of what has been going on. We are always available to reply to e mails or if contact is made via 101. If you really do need a further breakdown oif crime on the areas, this can be found on the Kent Police Website. As always, I will end by saying that Kent is a safe place to live and work and with everybody's help, we can keep it that way. Keep safe and keep well. Read More...

FHDC Press Release

2 September 2021 Council support for Afghan families F&HDC has confirmed today that it will be supporting five families who have arrived in the UK under the Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP). The council had been standing by with other local authorities ready to help resettle Afghan families and the offer of homes in the district came as more information about the government scheme, known as Operation Warm Welcome, were announced. Homes will be provided in the district’s private rented sector and the council will work with partner agencies to provide ongoing support to the families as they begin their new lives in the UK. The Government has set up a £5 million fund to assist councils to support households to access accommodation. Families currently on our social housing waiting list will not be disadvantaged by this additional support. Councillor Jenny Hollingsbee, Deputy Leader and F&HDC Cabinet member for Communities said: “We have shown previously in the Syrian Resettlement Scheme how we can support families and welcome them into our community and I am very pleased that we are able to do so again. “It is not just about providing a roof over people’s heads but working with partners and Kent County Council to ensure that Afghans are welcomed and supported to rebuild their lives.” Arrivals under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) have worked alongside the British Military and UK Government in the UK and will be given indefinite leave to remain.
