COMMUNITY SAFETY PLAN AGREED

Continuing the reduction in violence and offending – as well as the ongoing COVID-19 recovery – are the focus of the district’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) for the next three years.

The 2021-24 plan was approved by Folkestone & Hythe District Council members, who were told an assessment of crime trends helped shaped the priorities.

Cabinet Member for Communities Cllr Jenny Hollingsbee said the plan – which is reviewed annually – contains an overview of the work of the partnership, how it is structured and cites key supporting legislation.

She added: “The plan also reflects on issues impacting the work of the partnership, including COVID-19 recovery and new legislation such as the violence reduction bill [Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill 2021] and Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

“By working with our partners and with particular focus on these three areas, we continue to strive to make the district a safe place to work, live and enjoy.”

F&HDC has a statutory duty to address crime and disorder and to participate in the CSP, which comprises “responsible authorities”, including Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent County Council Public Health, and groups such as East Kent Drug and Alcohol Services, housing teams, and East Kent Mediation.
